Sharpie in my moleskine for Julia Kay's Portrait Party. I really loved the perspective in the reference photo. I didin't get it perfect by I think I captured the feel of the moment!
This is Julia Kay, the one that started it all! Probably should have drawn her first but I wanted to do the balloon hat and was a little intimidated by it.
Once again, this is sharpie in my moleskine with the awful paper. One might wonder why I am still drawing in this stinkin' book. Well I have a bit of a problem with art supplies and vowed not to buy another sketchbook until this one was full. It is a slow and painful journey but one that I am happy to make! I need a new sketchbook!!!!!
I am on a roll now. Trying to post one every day or two. Hoping to sharpen my sharpie skills!
Animatorkim did this picture of me for Julia Kay's Portrait Party on flickr. Love it!

Self portrait for the 10,000 Portrait Celebration on Juila Kay's Portrait Party!
Just completed this one for Juila Kay's Portrait Pary on Flickr. Background is random watercolor and the drawing is sharpie pens. I tend to make several watercolor backgrounds at a time with no plan of action and then I look for portraits to do that match the backgrounds. This one was quite a challenge just couldn't seem to get the eyes and mouth correct.
For Julia Kay's Portrait Party. (Link below.) Loved the hair in this photo and the lady was so cute. Can't tell that from this. I will definitely revisit this photo on a larger scale at some point. I would like to do her justice!
For Julia Kay's Portrait Party. A couple more ATC's and then I will be returning to my sketchbook and making these larger. I may even attempt a canvas or two!

Finally, back to Julia Kay's Portrait Party on Flickr. I have missed doing these portraits. I have set a goal for myself of 1 ATC a day, 1 portrait a week and one painted canvas a month. I wouldn't consider this a New Year's Resolution as I always fail at those. This is just a personal goal that I would like to achieve, permanently. So far I have one ATC a day, but have fallen behind for portraits. So for the next few days I will be doing 1 ATC Portrait a day. As far as canvases, I got as far as painting my 24 x 36 canvas black. So that will have to do for last month. Hopefully, by the end of this month it will contain a representation of one of my favorite collages "Dinner at Frida's." I have been wanting to turn it into a painting for a long time. If you want to take a peek at my collage, it can be found here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/mochatribe/389133292/in/set-72157594546773243/
Photo interpretation by Neil Davidson. Charcoal. I love seeing what other artists do with the pictures I have posted. This is one of my favorites!

We are learning to do block prints at bookbinding class. This is the result of two weeks work. The black only is what was left at the end of the process and is actually my favorite print. We did 4 colors and with each print, more of the block was carved away to attempt to get the desired result. It really made my brain cramp up. I believe it is a good exercise to keep alzheimer's at bay!
